My name is Ryan Matthew Setliff. I'm a sinner saved by God's grace. I look to the tender mercies and grace of my Lord Jesus Christ and I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am theologically an historic Baptist, and was raised in a Congregational Christian church. I attended Christian colleges at Liberty University and Regent Law, and have a B.A. in Pre-Law.

Character and the Heart Counts Foremost

But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature, because I have refused him. For the LORD does not see as man sees; for man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.”
1 Samuel 16:7

Television evangelist Falwell dies at 73

Television evangelist Falwell dies at 73

My former Chancellor has passed away. I didn't concur with his theology or his notion that giving blind deference to the Republican Party is requisite for living the good Christian life, but he did a lot of good for the greater Lynchburg community and the young people at Liberty through his ministry over the years.

What Jesus Demands of the World?

Here is a point to ponder: why does Jesus make demands of the world? John Piper attempts to answer this question in his latest book What Jesus Demands of the World.

The life and ministry of Jesus Christ was manifest not just to reveal the revelation of redemption through faith and imputation of His righteousness, but also to itinerate the law and how we should strive to live it in our day-to-day lives. It means foregoing personal vengeance, and seeking the path of restoration and forgiveness. Christ demands that we bless even our enemies. We counter evil by not repaying it in kind, but responding in love and humility.

John Piper's new book is a thought-provoking look at the life and teachings of Jesus Christ. This is a must read for any Christian, as well as those non-believers just seeking an introduction to Christian theology.
